Inert Detritus is indeed a great name for a weblog

When someone throws a good idea at you, it’s sometimes best to catch it. In this case, that someone is John Gruber, and he didn’t so much throw an idea at me, as point it out to everyone.

“Huh?” you may find yourself asking. “What the hell is he talking about?”

Well, John Gruber publishes an excellent web log called Daring Fireball where he periodically dives headlong into some or another issue related to web development, software development or many things Apple. Sometimes his articles hit all three. Most times they’re full of great insight and meaningful explanation. On top of that, he links to a bunch of other things that are usually of interest to me. Suffice it to say, I keep tabs on Daring Fireball.

In his latest article, which primarily addressed the un-coolness of installing software without the user’s permission or knowledge, there was a little footnote that the phrase “inert detrius” would make a great title for a weblog. I thought about it, and decided that yes, it would, and I’m reasonably certain that I could come up with something frequently enough to at least churn an entry once a week. Whether it would be good or not, I have no idea. You’ll just have to bear with me.

EDIT: I’ve decided against pursuing a weblog at the “inertdetritus.org” domain, so if you’re confused as to why you’re at some site called “method”, that’s probably why.
